Registered Psychologist, BHlthSc(Naturop), GDip(Psych), PGDip(Psych), MPsych (Clin)
Alice is an authentic and non-judgmental psychologist, who works collaboratively with her clients with the aim to achieve meaningful and long-lasting change. She draws on therapies including intensive short-term psychodynamic therapy (ISTDP), cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), depending in on the individual needs of her clients. She is particularly passionate about ISTDP, a deep-acting psychotherapeutic approach that can effectively provide a road map out of one’s suffering by encouraging access to blocked or suppressed emotions.
Alice works with people in late adolescence and young, middle, and late adulthood who present with a range of problems such as:
· Recurring emotional/psychological problems (e.g. anxiety, sadness, irritability, anger)
· Relationship difficulties (e.g. recurring conflict or lack of meaningful connections)
· Workplace stress (e.g. high pressure, discontentment, problems with colleagues) that may cause secondary issues (e.g. rumination, burnout)
· Low self-esteem (e.g. frequent self-critical thoughts and self-doubt) that interferes with life goals and relationships
· Communication difficulties (e.g. lacking assertion or impulsive outbursts)
· Somatisation (e.g. conversion of emotional problems into physical ailments such as gastrointestinal complaints or migraines)
· Self-harming or sabotaging behaviours (e.g. deliberate self-harm, substance abuse, avoidance, offending behaviour)
· Adjustment difficulties (e.g. struggling to come to terms with a major life change or stressful event)
· Inner conflict (e.g. around work, life direction, relationship, and family matters), and
· Unresolved grief and trauma
Prior to pursuing psychology, Alice worked for years as a university-trained naturopath. Her overall training has given her a rich understanding of the interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors on mental health. In psychological practice, she draws on her knowledgebase to provide evidence-based, integrative mental health care.
